The GRIT Youth Football Equipment Locker Project
GRIT is launching its first community initiative, the 2026 Youth Football Equipment Locker Project.
Too many children across West Michigan want to play football, but cannot afford the equipment required to participate safely.
The cost of a complete set of football equipment can exceed $525 per athlete, creating a barrier for many hardworking families.
The GRIT Equipment Locker changes that.
By purchasing quality helmets, shoulder pads, and protective equipment, we can loan equipment to youth athletes each season, professionally inspect and sanitize it after use, and continue serving new players year after year.
One donation today can impact dozens of young athletes over the life of that equipment.

Every donation entrusted to GRIT Youth Community Works is invested back into creating opportunities for young people.
Built to Serve More Than One Season
The GRIT Youth Football Equipment Locker is designed to maximize every donation while maintaining the highest standards of player safety.
Each set of football equipment, including helmets and shoulder pads, is purchased new, professionally fitted, and placed into service for our youth athletes.
At the conclusion of every football season, all equipment is returned to GRIT, thoroughly inspected, inventoried, and prepared for the following year.
To ensure every athlete receives equipment that meets the highest safety standards, our helmets will be reconditioned and recertified annually through Riddell's NOCSAE-certified Helmet Reconditioning Program. This process includes professional cleaning, detailed structural inspection, replacement of worn components when needed, repainting, and recertification before helmets are returned to play.
As GRIT grows and serves more youth throughout West Michigan, additional equipment will be purchased each year to expand the Equipment Locker and ensure every eligible child has the opportunity to participate.
This sustainable model allows every donation to create lasting impact, helping today's athletes while building opportunities for tomorrow's.
